synopsis

Born in an unhappy working-class family in Saigon, 17-year-old Quynh never complains about his obligation to work and study, but he is silently curious about his sexuality. Depressed after having his affection for a classmate rejected, Quynh finds romance when he meets Vu, an elegant and talented teenage boy. Despite the class differences between them, the two boys spend their summer together with their friend Cat, a cheerful girl, who loves to sing and has her own secrets.

One night, the three make a spontaneous trip to the beach, where Vu abruptly reveals that he plans to go the US to study. When Vu leaves, Quynh enters college, continuing to firmly believe in love. However, things turn chaotic when Vu breaks off all contact with Quynh. Feeling betrayed, Quynh tries to cheer himself up by hanging out with his gay friends, and eventually leaning on Cat for support. Nonetheless, he continues to pine for his lover until a poignant reunion happens.
